Big Tire Tomica

In the 1983 Tomica introduced a"Big Tire" or "Bigfoot" line of models that was separate from the Regular Tomica. They were sold without a box from a display (see photo).

There were 12 different models in all, four different castings in three colors each:

There were 12 different models in all, four different castings in three colors each:

No. 1 Toyota Land Cruiser · No. 2 Mitsubishi "Jeep" · No. 3 Toyota Hilux · No. 4 Mitsubishi Pajero.

These did not sell well and production stopped in 1984 - which makes them quite rare today.

After that, the Mitsubishi "Jeep", Toyota Hilux and the Pajero Bigfoot appeared as Regular Tomica.  The car height was slightly lower than the "Big Tire" editions so as to fit into a large Tomica box.

The back licence plate of the Hilux reads No. 3 as a remnant of the Bigfoot line.
