Tyler Blu Gunderson is the main protagonist of Rio, Rio 2, Angry Birds Rio, and all the books of the franchise (with the exception of Rio no.3: A Dog's Tale).

In the first film, Tulio speculated that Blu was the last male of his kind, the Spix's Macaw. He is shy and socially awkward. He is definitely the opposite of his mate, Jewel. While he can log onto a computer, open bird cages and use a skateboard, he had one major set-back: he could not fly. When he met Jewel and fell in love with her, he was forced to put his fears aside and find out if he really had what it took to soar.
