The Borg Collective is a powerful, cybernetic civilization and one of the most formidable antagonists in the Star Trek universe. First introduced in Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Borg are a collective consciousness composed of assimilated individuals linked via a hive mind, erasing individual identity in favor of a unified will.
The Borg operate through assimilation, forcibly converting other species and technologies into their own through the injection of nanoprobes and implantation of cybernetic components. Their goal is the perfection of all life by absorbing the distinctiveness of other cultures and integrating it into the Collective.
