Bruttium

Bruttium is a region of modern day Italy with a long history.  It was initially inhabited before the 5th century BCE by a number of small tribes. These tribes grew and combined into an inbependent cofederacy and, during the era of Greek colonization, became part of Magna Graecia.  During the Roman era it became a province of Rome and then part of ruling states that followed.
