The Captrain Germany GmbH is the holding company of several railway companies and railway infrastructure companies that their logistical solutions in rail freight centrally marketed for industry, trade and agriculture. In addition, through its subsidiaries, the company maintains a (partially non-public) track infrastructure of 250 miles in length. In 2016, generated sales of 330 million euros, with 55 million tons of goods were transported by 1,400 employees, 175 locomotives and 2,500 freight cars.
The company firmierte until 10 January 2010 under Veolia Cargo Germany GmbH as a subsidiary of Veolia Transport. Following the sale of the foreign operations of Veolia Cargo to SNCF, the company has been part of SNCF Geodis, the SNCF Transport and Logistics Group, since December 2009.
