Dutch, weekly Magazine “de Prins “ (the Prince of the illustrated magazines ) was establised in 1901 by Nicolaas Jan Boon in remembrance of the marriage between Queen Wilhelmina of the Netherlands and Prince Hendrik van Mecklenburg. It carried lots of pictures, illustrations, stories (Arthur Conan Doyle), advertisments and subjects like royals and other well known people, local people, cities, villages, wildlife, plants, culture, events, history, churches, architecture, foreign countries and the former Dutch colonies. In 1908 it reached a circulation of over 100000 and the magzine measured 37 x 28 cm.
In december a special edition was issued with stories and subjects related to Christmas.
In june 1926 the magazine celebrated it’s anniversary and issued a special edition.
Finally in 1948 the magazine ceased to exist.
