Mario Alberto Child, Chairman of the Ice Cream Business of Grupo Nutresa, explained his origin to El Colombiano: “Halloween is a season in which both adults and children seek to have fun and get out of everyday life. There we saw an opportunity ”.
To define the concept, the company did several market studies. With the results they came to the conclusion that Dracula was the perfect character because of his association with the October celebration and they turned the monster into the image of the product.
After some time developing the idea, Nutresa created an ice cream lollipop with a vampire design and plastic fangs as a “gift”. The initial flavor? Chocolate exterior filled with vanilla ice cream and strawberry sauce (representing the blood that the vampire drinks).

The Dracula palette had some transformations since it was released. It started out as vanilla ice cream with strawberry sauce and chocolate coating, but in 1991 strawberry sauce was replaced by blackberry sauce. During the last five years it was filled with strawberry with sauce and chocolate coating.
