In Hard Rock pin collecting, a fantasy pin is an unlicensed pin that meets one or more of the following descriptions:
- Includes trademarks not affiliated with or authorized by Hard Rock. Examples: Betty Boop, Disney, Looney Tunes, Olympic Games, Peanuts, Rolling Stones, Simpsons, South Park.
- Includes trademarks that have been affiliated with Hard Rock but were not affiliated at the time the pin was released. Example: Early Barbie pins are fantasy pins, while later ones are authorized.
- States a Hard Rock location that never existed (such as Baghdad, Haiti, Havana or Sturgis) or did not exist at the time the pin was released (many examples of this).
- States a legitimate Hard Rock location but is not an authorized pin from that location. Example: 1996 Atlanta Olympics.
- Does not state a Hard Rock location and is known to be an unauthorized pin.
Fantasy pins are not to be confused with Renegade Pins, which also are unlicensed but are a separate category.
