FJ - France Jouets

Brand

Something Missing?

FJ - acronym for France Jouets. Founded in 1899, it became JEP in 1929, after the merging of SIF and JdeP (Jouets de Paris). Jouet produced appealing and quite complex toy cars in the 1930's, especially Delage, Rolls Royce, Talbot, Renault, Hispano Suiza and other great marks of the era. In 1965, the factory closed as the owners pursued other interest. The Jouet name (Toy in French) was used by other companies, such as Les Jouets Montblanc.

FJ may be confused with another company because other sources say that FJ was formed in 1946 by Jean-Marie Moheng and Henri Fauvel in Marseille. In 1952, J.M and his brother(?) Pierre Moheng joined forces with the manufacturer Armand Walther and created Wamoo toys. In 1957, FJ bought GEM toys. At the end of the 1950s and beginning of the 1960s, the company became France-Toys SA. They produced  diverse toys in tinplate, plastic and diecast zamac but closed in 1972 or 75.
