Gene Winfield got involved in auto racing at an early age, driving Ford Model T's. Winfield gained fame by reaching 135 MPH in 1951 at Bonneville Speedway. He parlayed that racing career into Winfield's Custom Shop in his hometown of Modesto, Calif. In 1962, Winfield joined Aluminum Model Toys as a model kit consultant.
