Gertie Taylor is a seven year old girl, who is the daughter of Mary and the younger sister of Elliot and Michael. She has a mischievous and sarcastic personality.
She is initially terrified of ET when she first meets him but soon grows to love the little extraterrestrial. Before E.T. departs for home, she gives him the plant that he had revived early in the film, to which he gladly accepts.
