The origins of Heiploeg go back to before 1900, when the family businesses Heidema and Van der Ploeg were founded in Zoutkamp, the Netherlands. In the beginning of the seventies, Heiploeg became the name of the company that emerged from the cooperation between Heidema and Van der Ploeg. In 1999 Heiploeg's state-of-the-art processing plant was put into operation just outside Zoutkamp. The Zoutkamp site is now Heiploeg's specialized factory for chilled seafood products. Heitrans, the transport division of Heiploeg, is also located here.
