Hero is a Swiss company producing fruit based food products. Hero was founded in 1886 by Gustav Henckell and Gustav Zeiler in Lenzburg in Aargau (Switzerland). After the death of Gustav Zeiler in 1889, the company name was changed to 'Henckell und Roth' (abbreviated to "Hero"). On July 22, 1914 Hero took over a small fsctory in the Dutch city of Breda, which produced jam and other fruit stuff. The official name of the Dutch factory became 'N.V. Hero Conserven Breda'. The most important acquisitions by Hero were those of De Betuwe in 1987 and Herschi in 1989.
