I Know What You Did Last Summer is a 1997 American slasher film. It was directed by Jim Gillespie and written by Kevin Williamson, who adapted the 1973 novel. It is the first in the I Know What You Did Last Summer film series.

In the film, three friends accidentally hit and kill someone while they are driving drunk. They opt not to tell anyone about the murder and, in time, they pretend to forget about it.
