LEGO Mursten (LEGO Bricks in Danish and other Scandinavian languages), was the name of the LEGO company's plastic construction toy system from 1953 to 1955, succeeding the "Automatic Binding Bricks" name used from 1949 to 1952 and preceding the System i Leg (System of Play) name used from 1956 on.
The bricks produced under the LEGO Mursten name were a continuation of the Automatic Binding Bricks, with slots in the sides to accommodate thin plastic doors and windows. The LEGO name began to appear more consistently on the bottom of the bricks in this era, first in block letters and then in a rounded "dogbone" font starting in 1954.
