Former teacher David Martin founded Martech, a UK company which initially looked at making board/computer game crossovers but ultimately settled on being primarily involved in licensed titles, including digital creations of Zoids, model-turned-singer Samantha Fox and daredevil Eddie Kidd.
The original name of the company was Software Communications Ltd, before it became Martech. In 1987 Electronic Arts took a stake in the company, and in 1989 it rebranded as Screen 7 Ltd.
