Edward R. Mason formed the Mason Motor Car Company in 1906 to produce an American Automobile called The Mason. The designers of the Mason were none other than Fred and August Duesenberg who built the prototype to the Mason in 1905.

Under the Duesenberg brothers guidance the Mason was built from 1906 to 1910 in Des Moines, Iowa. The Mason was succeeded by the Maytag.
