Near the end of the 1960s the Mercedes-Benz Museum, very likely following Volkswagen’s example, commissioned Wiking to produce a series of ultra-detailed 1:40 scale plastic replicas of vehicles exhibited at the museum. The first models were produced in 1969 and were then immediately taken over by Cursor, a German company well known for for making products for advertising promotions.
