c. 400 BC/BCE to unknown date
Centuripe was a city of the Sikels (where modern day city of the same name now stands) of some importance as a strong place. No coins are known of it before the middle of the fourth century, when, in common with many other Sicilian towns, it was liberated from tyrannical rule by Timoleon (B.C. 339). It then restruck with its own types the large bronze coins of Syracuse.
