Motorbooks was founded as Classic Motorbooks in 1965 by Thomas Warth, beginning as an automotive book mail-order business, and later publishing its own books startingin 1973. Motorbooks was acquired by The Quarto Group in late 2007. Motorbooks has also been known by the names Motorbooks International and MBI Publishing.
