The "Nederlandsche Basalt Maatschappij" (NBM) was founded in the Dutch city of Zaandam in 1912. The company started with the import of basalt and other material for road works and later also started to do road construction works with own equipment. In 1987 the company merges with builder Amstelland Concernbeheer B.V. and together they continue as NBM - AMSTELLAND. In September 2000, N.B.M. Amstelland N.V. is taken over by the Koninklijke BAM group and together they continue under the name BAM NBM. In 2003 the NBM name is removed.
