Nickelodeon Movies is the theatrical motion picture production arm of the Nickelodeon television channel known for making animated and live action films. Founded in 1995 and owned by Paramount Players, a subsidiary of ViacomCBS, which is itself a subsidiary of National Amusements. the company released its first film Harriet the Spy in 1996 which was in live action and its first animated film The Rugrats Movie in 1998. It has produced family features and films based on Nickelodeon programs, as well as other adaptations and original projects. Its films are co-produced and/or distributed by fellow ViacomCBS division Paramount Pictures.
