An Italian company producing model cars in various scales, first of plastic, later of diecast metal.

Founded in 1955 under the name APS, it changed its name to Politoys in 1960 and then to Polistil in 1975.

Taken over by Tonka in the late 1980s, it ceased production in 1993, after Tonka itself had been taken over by Hasbro.

The name was passed on to May Cheong (Maisto), who applied it to some ranges of cheap Chinese made diecast products starting in the early 2000s.

After Maisto acquired Polistil's former Italian competitor Bburago in 2006, Polistil was merged with Bburago as a sort of downmarket sub-brand. It continued as such until about 2014.
