Poole Truck Lines

In 1946 Poole Truck Lines was born. Poole hauled cotton from Evergreen to Opelika, AL. during his first year of business. He later added another driver, and then a 2nd and 3rd. As the business grew, Poole continued to remain fully engaged in every aspect of the business. For 38 years, Poole operated a profitable and efficient transportation company.

In 1984 the company was sold to Landstar, Inc. who in turn sold it to Schneider National in 1998. At the time of the sale the company had approximately 800 trucks & 1,500 trailers. They were doing approximately $75,000,000 in business then.

(Aug. 1998) Landstar System, Inc. announced today it has completed the sale of the Landstar Poole's business, tractors and trailers and certain operating assets to Schneider National, Inc. for approximately $41 million in cash. The previously announced sale takes Landstar out of the company-owned tractor business.
