Proto Man

Mega Man | Character

Something Missing?

Proto Man, known as Blues in Japan, is a recurring character in the original Mega Man series. He is the first of the Light Numbers ever created by Dr. Light, even before Mega Man himself, making him technically the older brother of Mega Man and Roll. He is recognized by his scarf, his Proto Shield, and his signature whistle, which is heard whenever he appears.

Proto Man first appeared in Mega Man 3 as a rival working for Dr. Wily, where he challenges Mega Man to secretly ensure he can defeat Wily. In Mega Man 5, Proto Man is initially presented as the villain, though it turns out he was framed by an impostor. After helping Mega Man defeat the impostor, Proto Man becomes a reliable yet independent ally in most future games, appearing on occasion to help Mega Man's progress.
