Renegade Pins

Hard Rock Cafe | List

Something Missing?

In Hard Rock pin collecting, a renegade pin is an unlicensed pin released by a physical location that met one or more of the following descriptions:

  1. The location called itself Hard Rock Cafe but was not authorized to do so at the time the pin was released. Please see below for a list of known renegade locations. Note: Some later became home to authorized Hard Rock Cafes and released authorized pins.
  2. The location was allowed to use the Hard Rock name but not its iconic logo. Example: The original Johannesburg cafe, which closed in 2003, released more renegade pins than anywhere else, with a logo that put a distinctive cursive twist on the word "Cafe."
  3. The location was in a country where Hard Rock had not yet established its trademarks. Example: Two of the earliest and longest-running renegades were in Germany (Frankfurt, 1978-2007, and Heidelberg, 1978-2017).
