Robert Buchet, known as Bubu, born on May 18, 1922 in La Trimouille(Vienne) and died in a traffic accident on December 7, 1974 near Poitiers, is a French racing driver. He was one of the most picturesque figures in motorsport.
He had his first victories in 1956, successively winning the Rallye des Routes du Nord, the Coupe des Alpes, and the Armagnac rally, with Claude Storez as co-driver, in a Porsche 356, as well as Liège-Rome- Liège with the latter in 1957. He did it again in this last race with Paul Ernst Strähle in 1959, in a Porsche 356B Abarth GTL (Jacques Féret being the other category winner). The Bordeaux, Limousin rallies will also be on his list. (1959 and 1961, on Porsche), West, Cognac, and La Baule.

From 1961 to 1968, he participated six times in the 24 Hours of Le Mans: in 1964, in a Porsche 904, he won with Guy Ligier the GT category under 2 liters of the 24 Hours, then finished third in the Tour de France automobile the same year. (GT category), together with the German Herbert Linge. He won the Rallye d'Automne twice in a row, in 1965 and 1966, in a Porsche 904 GTS, then 911, as well as the Rallye de l'ACO (or Rallye de l'Ouest) in Grand Touring in 1965.
He became French Circuit Champion in 1967, still on a Porsche.
Porsche dealer in Poitiers, he raced the brand's 356, 904, 906, 907, 910 and 911 models, variously declined throughout his career.
When he finally retired from driving in 1969 after an accident at the Critérium de Touraine, he then became a Porsche preparer and still won numerous national and European successes with Claude Ballot-Léna and Bob Wollek as drivers.

He rests in the cemetery of Buxerolles.
