Roland Bassaler, a BMW dealer from Laval, was active as a GT and sports car driver in the 1980s and 1990s. Together with Yvon Tapy, a fellow dealer from Niort, he contested his first races in the French GT Championship in 1983.

In 1985, with financial backing from Bellanger, a Laval-based exhaust builder, Bassaler acquired a racing sports car from Peter Sauber. The Sauber SHS C6 had the chassis number 82-C6-02. Bassaler replaced the existing Cosworth engine with a BMW 6-cylinder turbo engine and entered the car in international sports car races in the following years. He contested the Le Mans 24 Hours with the car four times. He was only able to place himself in the debut race in 1985 ; together with Tapy and Dominique Lacaud he was 23rd overall. His best finish in a sports car race was 12th1000 km race at the Nürburgring 1986.
