Roy Woods, president of American Racing Associates, won the 1970 Kimberly Cup as the most improved driver in Sports Car Club of America racing. He drove a Chevrolet Camaro to second place in the Southern Pacific Division class A-Sedan point standings with victories at Holtville, Calif., Phoenix, Ariz, and Portland, Oregon. 

Woods switched over to the ex-Mark Donohue Sunoco Javlin for the American Road Race of Champions at Road Atlanta and won the 1970 National Championship in A-Sedan. Woods, and 1969 Continental champion Tony Adamowicz will campaign a pair of ARA Javelins in the 1971 Trans-American Championship series for sports sedans, and also be driving a Lola T192 in the Continental series.
