Saddam Hussein Abd al-Majid al-Tikriti was the fifth President of Iraq, serving in this capacity from 16 July 1979 until 9 April 2003. After the events of September 11th, the US accused Hussein of having weapons of mass destruction. After disappearing for several months, US soldiers captured the former leader, and after a trial, he was found guilty of crimes against humanity and was sentenced to death by hanging. He was executed on December 30th, 2006.
