Seminole Gaming was founded in 1979, when the tribe opened the first high-stakes bingo hall and casino in the United States. That facility, now known as Seminole Classic Casino Hollywood, was the forerunner of the Indian gaming movement throughout North America. In 2007, the tribe bought Hard Rock International for $965 million (USD), marking the first time that an American Indian tribe acquired a well-known global brand.
