Before the apocalypse, Shiva was one of the many animals located at a zoo, and once the apocalypse began, she was the only surviving animal. Ezekiel, once an employee at the zoo, saved Shiva from captivity and eventually became his loyal companion.
Shiva also appears in the AMC television series of the same name., and is not portrayed by a real-life tiger. For motion capture, she was "portrayed" by Randy Carnival and Scott Hunter.
