Squadron/Signal Publications is the editorial branch of MMD-Squadron, one of the largest military model distributors in the world. Formed by modelers in the late 1960s, Squadron Mail Order is the oldest and most reliable mail order firm in the United States, specializing in military models, books and modeling supplies.

Since 1971, Squadron/Signal Publications has published various renowned book series. These series include: In Action, Walk Around, Detail In Action, On Deck, At The Gate, Combat Chronicles, Squadron At Sea and Historical Reference. Our pictorial-history books are prized by modelers, historians and veterans alike. Many of the books are sold in military history museums worldwide. Most books trace the development of a single type of aircraft, armored vehicle or ship from prototype to the final production variant. Experimental or “one-off” variants can also be included.
