Steve Sims has been competing since 2006. Sims currently resides in Virginia Beach, Virginia. He currently drives Stone Crusher from his team Monster Trucks Unlimited, which has won multiple Monster Jam "Team of the Year" Awards. He has also made multiple appearances at the annual Monster Jam World Finals.
Sims career started in 2005 when he traded Dennis Anderson free counter tops to have Grave Digger displayed at his son's birthday party. Afterwards, Anderson told Sims about a truck for sale. Sims bought the truck which he turned into Stone Crusher in 2006. Despite owning the truck, he hired Gary Wiggins to drive for the team.

In 2007, Sims would make his driving debut driving Pure Adrenaline for Randy Brown Motorsports.
In 2008, Sims' Monster Trucks Unlimited team expanded to two trucks. He bought the Pure Adrenaline (Sims) truck he drove for Brown in 2007 and turned it into Mopar Magic. Ricky Brantley drove the truck alongside a new Stone Crusher driven by Sims himself after Gary retired from driving.
