The youngest son of Lord Balon Greyjoy and heir to the Iron Islands after his brothers are killed during his father's rebellion. After the Greyjoy Rebellion Theon is sent to Winterfell to be a ward of Ned Stark, where he grows up with the Stark children.
During the War of the Five Kings Theon pledges his loyalty to Robb Stark, but ultimately betrays Robb to help his father invade the North for the Iron Islands. Eventually he is captured by the Boltons when they retake the North from the forces of the Iron Fleet and he is enslaved and tortured by Ramsay Bolton until he becomes "Reek."
