Tiny Tonka

Series

Something Missing?

Tonka introduced in 1968 a new series called Tiny Tonka’s. They were from approximately 5 to 11 inches in length and about 2 inches wide. They were manufactured all over the world from the United States to foreign countries such as New Zealand, Canada, Spain, Bulgaria, Australia, Argentina and the United Kingdom. Just like the larger Regular (1947), Mini (1963) and Mighty (1964) Tonka’s, they were made of automotive grade pressed steel, with some plastic parts.

There were nine Tiny Tonka’s introduced that first year.

  • Pickup
  • Wrecker
  • Garbage Truck
  • Cement Mixer
  • Fire Truck
  • Dump Truck
  • Car Carrier
  • Bottom Dump
  • Aerial Ladder Fire Truck

They were initially priced from $0.99 cents to $1.99.

The series continued until it was phased out around 1982 to 1984. There were many great vehicles produced in those 15 or so years.

There were many gift sets also made over the years.

  • Crazy A’s Set
  • Construction Set
  • Transportation Set
  • Fire Fighter Set
  • Horse Farm Set
  • Gift Set

One thing about collecting the Tiny Tonka series of vehicles is they don’t take up as much room as their larger brethren, so you can have more of them in your collection.

Hopefully, we will eventually have all of them listed here with images.
