Valiant Comics and Image Comics teamed-up to produce the 1993 Deathmate series.  Rather than number the books, each is named for a color (Deathmate Black, Deathmate Blue, Deathmate Red, Deathmate Yellow) or the position of the books (Preview, Prologue, Epilogue).  Several previews were made available for free in other products, however, delays in production and shipping caused the series to end much later than expected.  Gold versions of the books (except Preview) exist, as well as a silver cover Deathmate Tourbook which was often signed by artists at Deathmate tour locations or conventions.  Notable is that Deathmate Black contains the first appearance of Gen13 characters illustrated by J. Scott Campbell.
