Wallace (Japanese: ミクリ Mikuri) is a highly accomplished Trainer and Coordinator who specializes in Water-type Pokémon. In the original Pokémon Ruby and Sapphire, as well as their remakes, Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, he is the Gym Leader of Sootopolis City's Gym, known officially as the Sootopolis Gym, awarding the Rain Badge to those who defeat him. In Emerald, he becomes Champion of the Pokémon League after giving back the Gym to Juan, his former instructor.
Wallace also excels in Pokémon Contests and, in Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire, can be encountered in Master Rank Beauty Contests. He is apparently close to Steven Stone, and assists him in the Cave of Origin quest in Ruby, Sapphire, Omega Ruby, and Alpha Sapphire. He is the only character in the games to have the Trainer class Sootopolitan (Japanese: ルネのたみ Citizen of Rune) and the only character in the anime to be referred to as a Contest Master (Japanese: コンテストマスター Contest Master).
