British Metal and Toy Manufacturers was founded in 1914 in England and registered the trademark BRIMTOY. They were liquidated in 1921. Several former directors then formed Brimtoy Ltd when the ecomy picked up a few years later.
A W J Wells was formed in 1919. and was a competetor. Alfred Wells was a toolmaker and made metal toys under his brand name. Then Wells & Co took over Brimtoy in 1932. Wells-Brimtoy consolidated production under one roof later but continued to use their old trademarks.
