Eliza Hamilton is a character in the Broadway play "Hamilton: An American Musical" who was originally portrayed by Phillipa Anne Soo.

The character is based on Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton (August 9, 1757 – November 9, 1854), who was a socialite and philanthropist. She was married to Alexander Hamilton, and was a defender of his works as well as co-founder and deputy director of Graham Windham, the first private orphanage in New York City. She is recognized as an early American philanthropist for her work with the Orphan Asylum Society.
