Noriyuki "Pat" Morita was a stand-up comic, as well as a film and television actor who was well known for playing the roles of Matsuo "Arnold" Takahashi on Happy Days (1975–1983) and Mr. Kesuke Miyagi in The Karate Kid movie series, for which he was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in 1985. He appeared in many television series throughout the 1970s and 1980s, including roles as the Emperor of China in the Disney animated film Mulan (1998) and Ah Chew in Sanford and Son (1974–1976) as well as providing voices for multiple video games.
