The Symbiotes (originally known as Klyntars) are a race of extraterrestrial parasites which appear in the Marvel Comics universe. The Symbiotes envelop their hosts like costumes, creating a bond through which the host's mind can be influenced. Symbiotes are fully aware and sentient creatures. They are a conquering, parasitic race which feed off the emotions of their hosts. They tend to force their hosts to perform spectacular and terrifying feats in order to feed off of the resulting hormonal rush.
