Unlike the production version, the model's name on the packaging is "'80s Firebird" and states that it is one of 12,500. The production version's name is "Hot Bird" and is one of 10,000. The date stamp on the base also predates the production release.
The total number in existence is unknown, but certainly far less than 12,500.
