Giuseppe Garibaldi

Guiseppe Garibaldi is considered a "Father of the Fatherland" as an Italian general, politician and nationalist. Garibaldi served as a member of the Senate of the Kingdom of Italy between 1861 and 1882. After military endeavors in Brazil, Uruguay and Europe, Garbaldi led Italy through its second war of independence. In his later years, he was a founding member of the League of Democracy, which fought for the likes of universal suffrage, women's emancipation, and the abolition of ecclesiastical poverty.
