Chad Valley

Brand

Founded in the early 9th century, Chad Valley gets its name from the area in Harborne where they began making soft material type toys before World War I. Joseph and his son Alfred managed the company and received a royal warrant to change it from "Toymakers to H.M. The Queen" to "Toymakers to H.M. Queen Elizabeth" when Princess Elizabeth  acceded the throne in 1952.

By World War II, the company switched to wooden instrument cases, barrels, hospital beds, and electrical coils to help the war effort. Post war, they continued the toy manufacturering with tin plate.
