The Charlotte Bobcats are an American basketball team playing in the National Basketball Association. The original Charlotte Bobcats began as the Hornets in 1988 before moving to New Orleans in 2002. The NBA awarded Charlotte a new franchise in 2004, thus creating the Bobcats.

The Michael Jordan-owned Charlotte franchise reclaimed the Hornets mascot in 2014, when New Orleans switched its name to the Pelicans.
