A few months ago, it was 60 years since Colmotores was founded, a company that consolidated its position as the first formal vehicle assembler established in Colombia when it started the assembly of vehicles at its plant in Bogotá in 1962.

We propose a trip through time. Locate the key in the switch and start the engine, put it in  first and return to 1956. Cuba was not a communist, the Baby Boom is in full swing, Elvis Presley makes his way with rock and roll, and in the automotive world, models like the  Citroën DS or the Mercedes 190 SL "wings Seagulls " were the dream of anyone who called himself a car enthusiast.

Given the swings between one government and another that at any time raised or lowered taxes on cars and capriciously opened and closed the imports of the same, a group of businessmen headed by Don Germán Montoya Vélez decided to create a company dedicated to the assembly and commercialization of vehicles that could enjoy tax exemptions because they would be built locally. In addition, making it easier for Colombians to acquire their own car, as well as encouraging the creation of employment and related companies specialized in the manufacture of auto parts and supplies.
