FIFA (French: Fédération Internationale de Football Association, English: International Federation of Association Football) is the international governing body of association football, futsal and beach soccer. Founded in 1904 and headquartered in Zurich, Switzerland, it represents more than 200 national associations. FIFA is responsible for organizing and promoting association football's major international tournaments, notably the World Cup, which began play in 1930, and the Women's World Cup, which began play in 1991.
