Lion Models

This firm was founded by (Baron) Gunther Freiherr von Dobeneck about twenty years ago. His products consisting of small-scale white metal kits in the early 1990s. These easy to assemble kits possess a great amount of detail for their size. Although they have been categorized as being in 1:87 scale, they appear to be somewhat larger. The one-piece bodies are provided with glazing and floorboard seating that rests on the base plate plus four wheels that are glued to axles in the base plate. The plate is inscribed by hand with the name Lion Models - Germany. These kits sold for about fifteen dollars during their introduction. According to a source from Johnson, this firm is still in business and the kits are still available and include many vehicles not produced by the more prominent diecast manufacturing community at present.
