Something Missing?

Marusan is a Japanese company. Maru, meaning circle in Japanese is where their "SAN" logo derives. SAN itself translates to three, pointing to the three founders of Marusan in 1947. Based in Tokyo, they began producing toy binoculars and telescopes and added tin toys later. In 1950, the company was formally incorporated. Production ceased around 1964. In 1968, Marusan declared bankruptcy which led to the establishment of both Marusan Co., Ltd and Bullmark. In the 70's, Marusan began exclusively producing toy parts for other companies. Recently, Marusan announced that it would begin toy production again making it one of the few surviving companies of the Japanese toy industry.
